Thanks to our resident band – Brian on bass; Brendan on drums, Eddie on harmonica and Tom on percussion. Thanks to those who stepped up to the mike and lead on certain of the numbers – Les B, Al, Steve McG, Mark, Joy, Elaine, Graham P, Eddie, Brendan and Tom. Again a nice little number by our girls – Joy, Jackie, Margo, Donna and Diane.
Another good STARTIME. Our grateful thanks to
- Graham and Joy who gave us Buddy Holly’s Words of Love (1957). The song was covered by the Beatles on their Beatle For Sale album released in the USA. John and Paul, fans of Buddy used to perform the song at the Cavern Club in the sixties and a version was recorded in 1965.
- Les H gave us the Rolling Stones (who else?) High and Dry from their 1966 Aftermath album.
- Joe sang Jim Reeves’ When Two Worlds Collide. The song was written by King of the Road performer Roger Miller in 1961, and appears on Jim’s Country Side of Jim Reeves (1962).
- Al and Steve McG gave us the Kink’s Sunny Afternoon.(1966).
Next week it’s the turn of Eunice and Les B to lead. Set list later.
