Again a bit thin on the ground, famous faces taking advantage of cheaper and quieter holidays now the kids are back at school !!!, but thanks to all who turned up. Thanks to Dave, Lee and Abigail for another great night.
Thanks to our resident band, - no harmonica, but two bassists (Brian and Jim), and two reduced drummers (cajoners) (Brian and Brendan), and Tom on percussion, for the accompaniment.
Thanks to the soloists on some numbers Carole, Joy and Diane as the girls in the back seat, Brendan , Les H, Carole, Joy, Ian, Trevor, Brian Brittain, Lee and closing the first part, if not the Club, meself.
Just a comment, think Spanish Harlem needs a riff added. C// Cmaj7 // F // Cmaj7 might work. Could the experts let me know?
Star Time featured:
- Les H with The Rolling Stones’ It’s Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It), well we liked it.
- Trevor – The Eagles’ Peaceful Easy Feeling. I fell asleep, no I didn’t. Working on a change of key.
- Graham and Joy – Walk of Life. Diane said it was Dire, but I think it was Dire Straits. Oh oo oo
Brian Brittain called in the Eagle Music Shop in Huddersfield, and now we can get a 10% discount as Club members, the contact is 'Rachel Price'.
Note there is also link on our website to the shop’s website. Click on USEFUL LINKS on the top menu
The Club gave its blessing to inviting George Melling to perform with Graham and Joy and Stephen Houghton at a not too distant session. May replace STARTIME for one session.
Bon Voyage to Carole and Brian for a few weeks, and have some great birthday parties, we’ll see you later in the year.
Get well soon to Wendy, who is suffering quite a bit with a bad back. She is having a scan to assess the cause. Look forward to seeing you both soon.
I didn’t have an up to date Leader’s List within me last evening, several members thought there was a gap for the next two weeks. However, Brian Brittain had his name pencilled in for the next session, but currently with no assistant. So Brendan and Steve G have volunteered to cover the next session, if Brian can do 29 September. 22nd September it will be Les Bond and Eunice. We are covered then until 22 October, if Trevor and Paul can cover that one – sorted.
