It was 50’s night and members as usual got into the theme, Elvis was in the building! Great suit David B.
Thanks as usual to this week’s Ashes, Brian on bass; Brendan on drums, Tom on percussion and Eddie on harmonica. Thanks to those who stepped up and lead on some of the numbers – Les B, Mark, Ernie, Trevor, Brian B, Eddie. Steve McG, Eric and Joe who did a sterling job on some of the numbers not immediately known to most. Thanks to the small number of girls (Margo, Jackie, Betty and Donna)
Again another great STARTIME, so many thanks to the following
- The Bad Boys (2 Toms, Eddie, Steve McG, Eric, Les H and Brian) with Dave D on bass for Ronnie Lane and the ever changing band of Slim Chance’s How Come. This was Ronnie’s first single after he’d left the Faces in 1973.
- David B who gave us a parody of Elvis’s Teddy Bear (Teddy Boy)1957, complete with flick knife.
- Joe who sang Jim Reeves’ Have I Told You Lately That I Love You. Written in 1945, and recorded by many, this version is from 1961.
- Les B again with a Jim Reeves number Stand At Your Window (1962), which was a B side to (How Can I Write On Paper) What I Feel In My Heart.
Next week it’s the turn of Trevor Gwynn and Steve Gilmore. Set list later.
This Thursday it’s Diane and Dave’s session at the Crown, very good turn out last time with members from Leigh U3A.
