Did we miss a drummer?, not with Tom on cajon, joining Brian on bass and Eddie on harmonica – thanks to this week’s Ashes.
Thanks to those who lead on some of the numbers –Eddie, Ernie, Diane and Elaine, Trevor, Mark, Bernard, Les H and Al.
Good and varied STARTIME, so thanks to
- Les H who gave us Mumford and Sons’ The Cave (2009) (in two instalments, one before and one after he slipped off the stool).
- Lee who gave us Dan Seals’ Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold (1985) from his Won’t Be Blue Anymore album, and the song reached No 1 in the US Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1986.
- Trevor sang Labi Siffre’s It Must Be Love (1971), also recorded by Madness (1981) and Suggs sang the song on the film The Tall Guy starring Jeff Goldblum, Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson (1989). Some great uke work on this one with a series of A chords.
- Steve McG gave us Eric Clapton’ Promises from his Backless album (1978). The song didn’t do too well in this country but was a bigger hit in the US, Canada, and The Netherlands.
Next week it’s the turn of Eric Lilley and Brian Brittain. They may send us a set list from Cheltenham.
Don’t know if Dave will be back from Southport in time, but it’s Diane’s do a the Crown on Thursday. It’s also her birthday on Saturday. Could there be cake?
Good luck and have a great time to all those going to the Cheltenham Ukulele Festival this weekend.
Eunice is still looking for some commitments for an afternoon session at the Armed Forces Day in Wigan town centre on Saturday 25th June. A slot between 2 and 3pm. Dave is suggesting using the song list from the last McCarthy and Stone gig.
Also one or two more players are required by Eric for a birthday party do at the Subby Club on Sunday 3rd July.
