Largely thanks to the two Grahams, who put together another great show for us.
Thanks to this week’s Ashes - Brian on drums, t’other Brian on bass and Tom on percussion. Eddie was there but a cold sore put paid to his harmonica playing. Thanks to those who lead on some of the numbers – Les B, Brian Belshaw, David Brindley, Eddie, Joe, Graham K, Steve Mc G, Brian Brittain, Brendan, Joy and Carole. A series of great numbers covered by our Ladies - Carole, Joy, Elaine, Diane, Anne and Margo.
A really good STARTIME again with a distinct Country feel, so it’s thanks to
- Graham K gave us Charlie Rich’s The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, No 1 on three different US charts in 1973.
- Joe gave us Don Williams’ Gipsy Woman (1974)
- Les H sang Roy Acuff’s Wabash Cannonball, a song about a fictional train (1940)
- Steve McG gave us an anti-Vietnam war song by Country Joe and the Fish. Commonly known as What Are We Fighting For, it has the original title of I Feel Like I’m Fixing To Die Rag (1965)
Next week it’s the turn of Eric Lilley and Brian Brittain, set list later.
