A very good STARTIME again, our thanks to:
- Les B gave us Hank Williams’ Wedding Bells, unusually this one was not written by Hank but by Claude Boone. The song reached No 2 in the US Country Charts, and was described by Hank as the prettiest song he’d ever heard. Keep your own opinions to yourself !!
- Carole gave us Rod Stewart’s Reason To Believe (1971), this was the B side of Maggie May. The song was written by Tim Hardin who recorded it in 1965. There is also a hit version by The Carpenters (1970), but it has been recorded by many others.
- Dave D gave us The Green Fields of France (Willie MacBride), which was written by Scottish-born folksinger Eric Bogle in 1976 as No Man’s Land. The song has been recorded by The Furey Brothers, and interestingly Tony Blair called it his favourite anti-war song.
- Trevor gave us INXS’ Mystify Me (1987), the last single from their 1987 Kick album. The song was written by Michael Hutchence with Andrew Farriss. It reached No 14 in the UK Charts.
Next week with Dave Shotliff away it looks like I’ll be helping Margo, a pleasure. Margo has successfully downloaded the tunes from Dropbox, well done. Set List later.
The Leader’s List has been updated, and reflects some changes with some swops because of member’s holiday. I’ve extended it through the following 7 sessions and hopefully after the end of September it will be back on track. Any problem(s), please let me know.
Don’t forget this Thursday it’s Diane and Dave do at the Crown, New Springs.
