Thanks to our Ashes this week, Brian on bass, Brendan on drums, Eddie on harmonica and Tom on percussion. Always a difference when we have a full orchestra. Thanks to those few who lead on some of the songs – Joy (always works hard when GP’s leading); Les B, Ernie, Trevor, Eddie, Al and Graham K. Also a performance by all the girls on Mamma Mia – thanks to Joy, Donna, Betty, Elaine, Eunice, Diane, Jackie and Anne – did I forget anyone?
A full set of STARTIME performances, so thanks to
- Les B who gave us an Argentinian cowboy song, Rosa Rio (1965) recorded by Jim Reeves on his Moonlight and Roses album.
- Eddie (accompanied by Betty and Donna) gave us Donovan’s Catch The Wind (again 1965), reached no 4 in the UK charts.
- Dickie gave us If Tomorrow Never Comes, originally recorded by Garth Brooks (1989), and also released by Ronan Keating in 2002 when it reached No 1.
- Trevor sang Perhaps Love written and recorded by John Denver on his 1975 Rocky Mountain Christmas album, and also recorded as a duet with Placido Domingo (1981). Denver originally dedicated the song to his wife, but on the Placido recording to his mother.
Next Week it’s the turn of Dave and Lee Davies and the theme is the 1950’s, if you can still get into those clothes you’ve not been eating properly !! Eric, Graham P and I are competing for the best DA. It will be half term, so maybe CAKE.
